System fails to start with an ultrawide display when CSM is turned off in the BIOS settings.
Hey there. I discovered I can boost my performance by turning on the resizable bar in my motherboard BIOS. I made sure all conditions were met and Windows was installed in UEFI mode. Here are my details:
- Graphics card: Gigabyte Zotac RTX 3070Ti AMP Extreme Holo 8GB
- Processor: Ryzen 5 5600X
- RAM: Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro SL 32GB (2 x 16GB) DDR4 3600 CL18
- Motherboard: MOBO Asus TUF Gaming X570-Plus WIFI
- Power supply: Cooler Master MWE Gold 850W V2 Full Modular
- Display: LG Ultragear 49” Ultrawide 240 Hz
After enabling the resizable bar, the BIOS blocks the "Launch CSM" option. When it’s off, my PC won’t start with the ultrawide monitor, but works perfectly with a 1080p (LG Ultragear 27” 240Hz) screen. I found a workaround: before booting, unplug or turn off the ultrawide, connect the 1080p monitor, wait for Windows to load, then plug the ultrawide back in and unplug the 1080p. Alternatively, switch off the display entirely, boot, connect the ultrawide, and then turn it on again. This method helps.
Has anyone else faced this problem? Do you have a solution? For now, I’m keeping the resizable bar disabled and CSM enabled. The steps I’ve tried so far:
1. Updated GPU drivers (removed old ones via DDU)
2. Updated BIOS
3. Verified VBIOS is current
4. Windows set to UEFI
5. Boot drive partitioned as GPT
6. Swapped display cables – nothing changed
Any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
