Hey there, I’m facing a strange issue with my latest setup. Recently, I swapped out most of my old parts and ended up with: Motherboard – Asus ROG Maximus Z790; Memory – Kingston Fury Dimm 32 GB DDR5-6000 Dual-Kit Cooling; Graphics – NZXT Kraken Elite WK using the old system’s specs; Power Supply – Bequiet 850W direct power; Hard Drives – WD Black SN 770 NVMe and WD Black SN 750 NVMe (from previous system), both on an Asus Hyper M.2 card over PCIe 4. The main problem is that the system won’t boot from a cold start and freezes during Windows installation. You’ll see the “Republic of Gamers” logo and loading circle, but it stops at the beginning. Only a reset solves it. After resetting, the same issue can happen again (had this 5-6 times before he got into Windows) or it loads into Windows but runs very slowly. The cursor lags, and entering the PIN takes a long time. Once Windows fully loads, everything works fine—performance and temps are normal. You can restart as many times as needed without trouble. If you turn off the computer and leave it for a while, the problem resurfaces. I turned off fast boot in BIOS and also disabled the fast boot option in Windows. I tried disabling AI Tweak in BIOS too. Any suggestions would be great.

Turn off Fastboot in Windows... your PC isn't really starting over unless it's enabled, which happens only at reboots. Your Fastboot hibernation image is likely corrupted. Set the power scheme to maximum power and disable hibernation and sleep on all devices, including screens. This tends to cause issues. Make sure your power button shuts down the PC. You can also open an admin Command Prompt and run powercfg /h off to verify.

Unfortunately, it didn’t go as planned. I had to restart it multiple times before it loaded properly into Windows. Once it started running smoothly after a short while, everything worked perfectly.

I face the same issue here. I can skip the multiple boots by opening the bios, leaving everything unchanged and saving it—it works perfectly. However, if I put it in sleep or turn it off for over 30 minutes, the same problem occurs. (I recently installed a secondary m.2 NVMe SSD (Samsung SSD 980) and it only functions properly during installation before it stopped working smoothly.)

No, your PC isn't using SSDs on a PCIe card.

Both components are located on the motherboard.

It looks like you resolved the issue by disabling "Above 4G Decoding" in the BIOS. It should now function properly. I hope this matches your experience and helps others facing similar problems.

I thought I resolved the issue by changing the CMOS battery. He started using Windows right away and after turning it off, he repeated the process the next day. Unfortunately, today I had to go through the same reset steps multiple times again. Now I’m even more confused than before.
