About a year back I upgraded my laptop (Acer Aspire A317-51G) from 8GB RAM (two 4GB modules) to 20GB (one 4GB, one 16GB). It functioned normally then but recently it won’t boot at all. When it powers on, the power light comes on, yet there’s no display and the screen remains off. If I swap out the RAM module I added last year with the old one, the issue persists. I don’t have any other slots to test since the remaining 4GB are soldered onto the motherboard.

Have you attempted without the removable stick, using only the soldered parts?

Yes, I've attempted it. Then something unusual occurred—I simply reinserted the RAM stick into the laptop, and shortly after, it restarted. Windows recognized the 20GB of memory. I'm curious about the process or reason behind this...
