System fails to start after software update.
Hello everyone, recently I purchased a new computer and upgraded it. I installed Windows 10 and tried to update to version 1507, then rebooted without issues. After that, I moved on to install Windows 1903, downloaded it, and the installation completed smoothly—just asked for a restart. Once it booted, it got stuck on the American Megatrends screen. After a short time, the keyboard stopped working, making it impossible to access BIOS or anything else, so I had to restart again. I wondered if this was a problem with Windows itself or something related to my old hardware. My previous machine was quite old—about ten years—and its hard drive was also aging. I’m curious whether the issue stems from my hard drive and if any changes are needed in the BIOS settings. Is the drive no longer compatible?
You chose to set up 1507 because it was the initial version of Windows 10 five years ago. A lot has evolved since then—current Windows 10 version is 1909. You can download it at no cost with the media creation utility and consider a fresh installation.
