I recently purchased some new RAM in November and faced the same problem. I thought the motherboard wasn't accepting the new sticks, so I tried placing them side by side to make them appear as separate units. This was the only method the system seemed to use, and I assumed it would be resolved soon. After installing my second set of RAM, the issue persisted—PC started up normally but wouldn’t boot. I noticed fans spinning faster, no monitor output, and the M.OTG light wasn’t working. I’ve tried replacing the motherboard battery, adjusting XMP settings in BIOS, and even updated the BIOS, but nothing seems to help. I’m considering a BIOS update as a possibility. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hello, Kindly share your specifications. Generally, it's not advised to combine RAM modules. It's better to assemble a set of 2 or more sticks together. Ensure you use slot A2 and B2 for dual-channel operation.

Hello, thanks for sharing your setup. Your system includes a 2070 processor, a Ryzen 7 3800X, and a Gigabyte gaming AB350. The RAM setup isn’t mixed—likely because I didn’t mention that earlier. For the first two sticks you installed, they were placed in single-channel mode because I ran into the same problem now. I hope this gives a clearer picture.

board is in bad shape. If RMA works, try it; if not, consider a full reset. To attempt repairs, remove all heatsinks and the CMOS battery, clear the CMOS memory, and press the power button for a few minutes to discharge any remaining charge. Submerge the board in water for an hour or two, then wash in a dishwasher without detergent, letting it dry completely. If the problem stems from dirt entering incorrectly, this should resolve it. Otherwise, the motherboard is damaged and you’ll need a replacement. When fixing, ensure the new board uses separate channels—old in inner and new in outer—to avoid conflicts.

Confirm the correct slots are ddr4_1 and ddr4_2 on your board.

Do you think the board could have been damaged over time? Maybe just from getting older. What do you mean by a "RMA sorry"? I should have mentioned in the first message that the RAM sticks are identical and I bought them at different times. I’ll give it a fresh start and see how it performs.

You're wondering if you filled all the RAM slots with the new sticks or if there was a misunderstanding.

You simply populate the slots, but if it's mixed up, the problem could lie elsewhere. Verify that both kits are in different channels.

It's consistent, just two identical RAM modules. I purchased one in November and the other a few weeks later.

Is the number identical? If not, it remains a mix. Unless they're packaged together, they're considered mixed and may not function properly together. Always use the same kit together. Even with the same model number, they could use different memory ICs.
