I've just acquired sufficient funds to upgrade my hardware. The new parts include an Intel Core i7-13700KF, two 16GB G.Skill Trident Z5 at 6400 MHz, and an ASUS ROG Strix Z790-H gaming Wi-Fi. I've already installed everything but the system fails to boot. After powering it on, it takes roughly ten seconds for a beep to appear. Ten seconds later, a long three-short sequence indicates no VGA signal detected, followed by a longer four-short pattern suggesting a hardware malfunction. The rest of the components are still functional but caused no issues before. Previously I had an EVGA GTX 1080 SC, a decent Chieftec 750W PSU, and four drives. I'm hoping for advice or solutions without needing to attempt repairs right now since I'll be away for nine hours.

Start by pulling all the drives. The post will appear even if it doesn’t boot, which is normal. You mentioned issues with post not booting—your LGA1700 motherboards typically use a light code. Check what your lights indicate.

The i7 13700kf lacks built-in graphics, requiring a dedicated video card. https://www.techpowerup.com/cpu-specs/co...00kf.c2853 Your motherboard supports this chip: https://rog.asus.com/us/motherboards/rog...k_qvl_cpu/ Your main concerns now are the video card installation and power connection. Ensure it’s securely seated with a fully inserted power plug. Verify your PSU can deliver sufficient wattage for the card and check all cables per the provided guide. The manual also suggests this might relate to a VGA compatibility issue.

They recommend checking these steps if you encounter "No Power/No Boot/No Display."

Thanks for the suggestion, I believe it was at a white or green light where it halted, but I can't recall clearly...

I verified it has integrated graphics, which is why I chose it. The PSU provides ample power for both the CPU and GPU together. It didn’t start when the GPU was connected.

I referenced the spec sheet for the i7 13700KF since it had F=no onboard graphics. I was uncertain whether the details were missing, but Techpowerup confirmed there are no onboard graphics for this model.

green means “fine” generally. Especially when they’re green and then gpu out. It’s the reds and yellows that are warning signs. White implies all three at once which shouldn’t happen. I worry about white. Your manual will have more on it.
