System fails to recognize new GPU, display emits warning tones.
Build: Latest BIOS, Ryzen 7 5700G, 24GB DDR4 8x+16x, RX 6650 XT MECH 2X 8G OC. Previous GPU was RX 580 ARMOR 8G OC. Hello everyone, I just got a new graphics card this holiday and during installation it didn’t show up on HDMI output. Fans aren’t spinning. When I connect HDMI to the GPU it boots normally but Windows doesn’t recognize it. Plugging in HDMI to the built-in graphics works fine, but Device Manager shows no GPU detected. Using the old GPU with identical specs boots perfectly. I suspect the new card has a problem and might need an RMA. I’m double-checking: - Trying another PCIe slot - same results - Testing RAM one by one - resetting CMOS - still no change - BIOS settings for PCIe changed - nothing different - Power should meet requirements (needs 10W vs RX 580) - Booted into safe mode, removed drivers with DDU, restarted and reinstalled GPU drivers - only onboard graphics appear. Any suggestions? Since this card is more powerful, I’m curious: - Would it work with another monitor or TV? - Could I use an 8-pin instead of the 6-pin I’ve used before? - Are there other steps I missed? I’ve heard this GPU can be tricky and a small BIOS tweak might fix the issue. The fact that my old GPU still works perfectly is confusing. Thanks for your help!
Occasionally it isn't broken at all. You might want to switch PCIe to Gen 3 or higher and see if it helps. Also test different HDMI or DP cables—my B550 with a 6800 wouldn’t display anything, but using an older GPU fixed it on HDMI. Still, with DP it keeps glitching, which shouldn’t happen unless something’s wrong. Nothing seemed faulty.
If you shared your exact PSU model and make, it would assist. The 6650XT needs 8-pin PCIE power—make sure your setup supports that. Ensure the power connectors are present; if not, try using an 8-pin header first. Consider other troubleshooting steps before contacting support.
It seems like your setup isn’t working because the pin configuration doesn’t match. You’ll need a quality power supply from a trusted manufacturer.
This seems logical given the increased power consumption from the new GPU, yet the older PCIe+6 adapter still works. It might be worth getting an adapter or a fresh PSU. I’ve also switched to Gen 3 and 4 PCIe versions without any issues, but the new GPU only makes noise when it beeps. I’m suspecting the 6-pin cable could be the issue. Please share your thoughts. Thanks.
