System fails to power on post-build; possible GPU issue detected
Building a PC for the first time, I have these specs: Gigabyte A520M S2H AMD Ryzen 5 5600x, Gigabyte RX 6600 Eagle Corsair Vengeance LPX 8GBx2 at 3200MHz, MSI Mag A550 BN, a Kingstom NV2 NVMe 1TB PSU. I thought the GPU might be the issue since everything else worked fine after updating the BIOS via USB. Once the update finished, the power supply and CPU fans started spinning, but the GPU fans didn’t. I felt some heat near the GPU, though it seemed loose and moved slightly. I tried re-seating it, plugging it back in, reseating completely, and even pressing hard to check placement. Swapped RAM slots and used only one slot each time. Nothing changed. I’m trying to turn it on with a screwdriver and the case, but everything feels stuck. I’m really frustrated and almost giving up.
Typically, most GPUs operate without fans unless required. A brief idle period is common during initial setup. Have you confirmed that the BIOS update completed properly?
Did you connect the right 8/6pin connectors to your GPU? Have all power ports been filled? A common beginner mistake is leaving out the PSU cables, and remember, today’s GPUs won’t even try to start if none of the power ports are active.
