Hey guys, Recently I purchased a 16GB kit for my server so that I can get 32GB in the future. Right now I have 4 4 4 4 or 16GB x4 DIMMS. I replaced two of the dimms with 8 8 for a total of 24GB of ram until I could afford to purchase another 16GB Kit. The motherboard I am using is the Gigabyte H97-D3H ATX one of the main reasons I purchased this board was because it said I could have up to 32GB, The board runs fine with Just the 8x8 Kit but when I add one or two more dimms I have it just won't boot, The fans start spinning on the CPU then stop for a few seconds and start spinning again then it repeats in this endless loop. Any ideas?

Attempting to reset your CMOS and see if the 16 gigabits remain consistent.

Are the RAM modules running at the same frequency?. If not, underclocking the faster one to match the speed. There's a decent chance you also can't run different sticks at different capacities either - e.g 2x 8GB and 2x 4GB. You may only be able to run 4GB sticks OR 8GB sticks and not mix and match

The latest 16GB model uses ADATA XPG, while the remaining two are GSKILL Sniper 8GB units. Before this change I was using an 8GB Corsair Kit along with the Snipers. All of them are 1600 CL9, and I turned off XMP which didn’t seem to make a difference.

The difference lies in the specifications and compatibility. 8GB kits might not meet your needs, but 16GB kits provide sufficient capacity. If you buy the same 16GB kit again, it should function properly.

It really depends on chance if they succeed together. If the same setup is used, it should function well.

Verify the timing values to ensure they match. Opt for the version with the longer intervals and slightly increase the ring voltage to observe any improvement.

I haven’t tested Corsair Vengeance yet, but I don’t want to lose time right now, so I’ll try them later.
