System fails to power on despite active power supply.
Hello, I'm assembling a PC for my girlfriend using some existing components. The setup includes an i3-12100f with a stock cooler, MSI B660M, Crucial Ballistix 3200 DDR4 8GB, an old RX480, EVGA G2 550W, and an old Evga display. Yesterday the system failed to boot, likely due to a dead motherboard. We replaced the motherboard and now the CPU LED is blinking but the PC still won't start. After removing all cables and reconnecting everything, I reinserted the CPU and swapped the stock cooler for the new one. I verified the power supply works fine (though I haven’t tested another supply yet) and tried different RAM. The motherboard supports both 8-pin and 4-pin power connectors, but I’m only using the 8-pin PSU as it’s the only one available. Could it be that the CPU is faulty? Or should I try other troubleshooting steps before replacing it? Thanks!
Remove the CPU and examine the motherboard connectors. Once confirmed safe, reinstall the CPU and attempt again.
