PC operated smoothly until recently when it failed to boot past POST. On the ASUS X870-F motherboard, the display transitions through Orange → Red → White repeatedly, lingering on White for several minutes before restarting. After a similar sequence, it returns to Orange → Red → White and stays on the White VGA light without looping. When switching to AM5 components (previous board, CPU, RAM), the boot process still stalled completely—no POST, fans spinning, RGB active, but no BIOS or Windows detected. I've removed all drives (only M.2 slots remain), swapped GPU and PSU, tried different RAM sticks, re-seated modules, and even reset CMOS multiple times. Disabling the IGP was attempted on another board, but it didn't resolve the issue. The white VGA light persists despite no GPU present, raising suspicion of CPU or power supply problems. I've updated the BIOS via BIOS FlashBack without success. Anyone have ideas on how to fix this?

Your mainboard seems to be failing. If you have coverage, return it; otherwise, purchase a new one. For alternatives, consider an MSI X870e carbon Wi-Fi board or an MSI Mag X670e Tomahawk Wi-Fi. The white VGA indicator light indicates your CPU has an integrated GPU.

I received the motherboard last week, thinking it might have caused the problem, but it doesn’t seem to be the issue. Since there’s no signal from the GPU or IGPU, it could be the CPU that’s the culprit.

Check your GPU on another machine. If it doesn’t work, consider replacing the CPU since your processor might be faulty.

I observed that after removing the CPU cooler from my NZXT Kraken 240mm AIO, the PC booted into BIOS successfully. This led me to suspect the cooler was the issue, so I replaced it with a non-liquid cooler (Thermalright Phantom Spirit 120). Testing confirmed it didn’t work. I then unplugged the cooler expecting the same outcome—booting without it and getting stuck in post. Now it won’t even reach BIOS without the cooler. I’m uncertain if the problem lies with the CPU, but I need advice.

It seems like a motherboard problem, but you might want to replace the CPU first. If the new CPU doesn’t function, consider getting a new motherboard as well.
