System failing during game start-up
I developed this setup in May 2021 and recently added the RTX 3090 with full water cooling. It performed exceptionally well until yesterday when my PC freezes after launching any game within a minute or two. There’s no blue screen, just a complete crash during gameplay. It doesn’t react at all. After reinstalling Windows 11 Pro, browsing and everyday tasks function normally. I’m using the system with factory settings, but I’m unsure why this issue emerged. Previously it worked flawlessly. My hardware specs are: Motherboard – Crosshair VIII Formula x570, CPU – Ryzen 9 5950x (temp below 70°C), GPU – Asus RTX3090 ekwb (temp under 59°C), RAM – Trident Z Royal 3600mhz CL16 32GB x2, Storage – Stirage 980pro 2TB, 870EVO 4TB, 750EVO 250GB, Power Supply – Corsair RM850 80plus gold. Fan – Lian-LI UNI SL120 x10.
The system is experiencing issues and has stopped functioning properly, even though it worked well before.
It’s not uncommon for Microsoft to release updates that lead to significant problems. After setting up the new PSU, it’s wise to run a stress test on your system to determine if crashes are limited to specific games or occur whenever heavy usage is applied. Even though the specifications claim powerful components and the 3000 series is recognized for power surges, these spikes could overload an 850W PSU. Installing the updated PSU helps eliminate this concern.
They resolved the issue by signing me up for Windows Insider Beta and applying the latest NVIDIA driver update. I also installed NVCleanstall and opted out of GeForce Experience.
