Hi, my HP desktop is functioning well and I’m quite satisfied. But it keeps restarting or crashing unexpectedly during gameplay since purchase. We followed HP’s recommended tests—downgrading to Windows 10, then back up—and removed all HP software. Now it seems stable. The most frustrating part is the lack of error messages before restarts; instead, we see a crash notification afterward. I also had another prebuilt PC from a different brand that faced the same problem. I changed my keyboard, mouse, headphones afterward, and my husband uses a similar surge-protected power supply. No issues there. I’m not sure if I provided enough information. I hope someone understands this unusual issue. Thanks.

Check for unusual error and warning alerts in the Event Viewer, particularly near the moment of crash and restart. Open the Start menu, type "Event Viewer," and locate it. Expand the details and look for messages in the System log and Application log.

The cooling in that system is quite effective after this point.

The issue is there is no error within a 10 minute span. It happens on random games and I reduced the graphics on them as well. The last straw was it failed on age of empires 2. I mean that is weird.

Two front coolers and one back cooler are installed. I also have the CPU cooler. I attached a photo. Additionally, I keep an eye on both GPU and CPU temperatures, and they stay within normal ranges.

I reviewed the details from that HP link. Is this model limited to a 12th generation Intel CPU? Are you certain it doesn’t include a 13th or 14th generation processor? Some Western Digital NVMe drives, especially those without DRAM, may encounter issues with the 24H2 version of Windows 11. Have you verified that your system uses the most recent firmware? Consider using Western Digital’s official software for this. Also, examine the SMART table on those NVMe drives—CrystalDiskInfo is a useful tool. Feel free to share a screenshot of the SMART table here. Have you performed any memory testing? Memtest86 is highly recommended for that purpose. Windows’ built-in memory diagnostics work adequately as well.

It seems like you're comparing CPU and GPU performance for AoE2. You think removing the GPU would make it run better on your processor, and you're checking if the issue is with the CPU or GPU. You also mention being distracted by the Intel chip inside.

They rarely exceed 60-80 degrees. I monitor them closely during gameplay. Device name is HazalPc, processor is 12th Gen Intel Core i7-12700K at 3.60 GHz, with 32 GB RAM (31.8 GB available). Device ID is 8CDED95F-ED3C-43CC-BEAD-2EB1EEC1EF24. Product ID is 00342-20796-65932-AAOEM. It runs on a 64-bit operating system with an x64 processor. There’s no pen or touch input available for this screen. Integrated graphics aren’t present, so I’m wondering if it will function without them? It would restart every 30 minutes while playing Oblivion remastered. Total War: Warhammer 3 also causes issues. The unusual part is that my earlier machine experienced the same problem. I’m not doing anything extreme. I download games from Steam, usually play 3-4 hours a day, and watch YouTube or Netflix. This issue appears on both my computers. Both came with Windows 11. Here’s the link to the previous setup: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0971K67N4?r...in_title_1

The i7 12700K includes an integrated GPU. Its model name doesn't end with 'F'. Unlike your previous setup with the i9 12900KF, it lacks an integrated GPU. @Translucent_Fire recommends testing AoE2 using just the Intel integrated graphics for troubleshooting. If it runs smoothly without issues, the problem likely lies with the GPU or its drivers. Nvidia's drivers have recently caused many issues; some users have found a workaround by installing an older driver version (566.36). Your NVMe drives appear to be functioning correctly.
