System experiencing crashes due to BIOS issues.
I own an old computer that my father is using now. He often reports frequent system crashes followed by restarts and failure to boot. I checked the BIOS settings and noticed it keeps crashing, so I cleared the BIOS jumper and it restarted. I also updated the BIOS from the Asus website (model Asus P8H61 MLX 3 R2.0), but it didn’t help. Is there a better solution for this issue?
It seems his EPROM is malfunctioning. The only solution is replacing it with a new module or computer.
Hello, it looks like your BIOS chip might be the issue if the jumper didn’t help. My advice is to replace the motherboard instead—unless you’re a programmer, in which case there’s probably nothing more you can do except swap the BIOS chip (which is tough with the wrong tools) or get a new board, which would be affordable given the system’s age. Take care, Noah.
It seems I might need to modify the motherboard if it's BIOS only.
