System experiences unexpected shutdowns.
System experiences unexpected shutdowns.
Hello. I previously addressed this topic, but I didn’t fully clarify the problem so I’m aiming to explain it more clearly this time. The situation started when I upgraded my PC a week ago. Initially, everything functioned normally. After switching from an AMD stock cooler to a Cooler Master MASTERLIQUID ML240L RGB V2, I installed it and was able to log in to Windows. However, after about 10 seconds, the system crashed with a BSOD. The PC would restart repeatedly instead of booting properly. I noticed the RAM wasn’t seated correctly, which prevented it from starting. After removing the faulty stick, everything worked smoothly. Later, while browsing, my PC froze after two hours despite stable temperatures. I had to force restart it, and then it operated normally. The next day, when I tried to turn it on, it froze again after 10 seconds. Removing and reinserting the RAM resolved the issue. Today, after several attempts, it finally booted without problems. Over time, the PC would freeze for 10 seconds in Windows, then restart. I attempted a BIOS update, but the system restarted immediately. A CMOS reset didn’t help either, as the PC froze after about 11 minutes. Now I’ve been using this machine for over 30 minutes without any issues. I’m unsure what to do next and would appreciate your guidance. Thank you!
Reinstall the CPU, RAM, and cooler. Verify all connections are secure and the socket or slot is properly cleaned. Ensure the cooling block is evenly positioned.
I didn't refresh it because I'm worried about those unexpected resets. The outdated BIOS shouldn't cause problems since my computer ran smoothly for a week. My memory checks showed nothing wrong.
Didn't apply too much thermal paste on the CPU and it seeped somewhere? Checking if we had a ground connection. When you installed the cooler, did you apply consistent pressure—slowly turning each screw, not all at once—to guarantee proper contact? You mentioned using the old cooler again, did you?
A small amount of thermal paste landed on the motherboard, but I cleaned it immediately. While installing the cooler on the CPU, I made sure to apply even pressure, tightening slightly on each side so it wouldn’t be too loose. The previous cooler caused the same problem. Now, when I turned on the PC and booted into Windows, I couldn’t move the mouse or use the keyboard. After a restart, it finally loaded properly and I’ve been using the PC for 14 hours without any issues. Temperatures stayed normal, no BSOD, and everything worked fine.
