Hey there, I've noticed my CPU usage spikes a lot while gaming. On my RX 6700 XT and R5 5600, playing NFS Unbound and Space Marine 2 keeps me above 90%. Stuttering happens in both games, and I've tried reinstalling Windows, DDU GPU, multiple times, flushing CMOS, updating drivers, and checking the BIOS. Temperatures stay under 70°C, but the GPU gets hotter around 80-84°C. Only my Discord runs smoothly in the background during sessions. My rig has a cooler master, 600W PSU, 16GB RAM, B450M AORUS M.2 SSD, and a 2560x1080 ultrawide monitor at 200Hz. My friend usually plays at 1440p but got 55-70% CPU usage on 1080p.
Your friend seems limited by GPU power at 1440p, while you're facing a different problem. What are your current frame rates?
I just need to resolve the issue without buying new components. I’ve been experiencing stutters after returning from vacation, and I’ve shared my concerns three times online—always getting the same suggestions like XMP enabled or BIOS updated. I’ve built around ten PCs and been troubleshooting since childhood, but I’m still puzzled about why my CPU is using so much power while everyone says it shouldn’t bottleneck the GPU.
Enable toggle window mode, isolate core and preserve memory.
Restarted the system twice, no unnecessary software or malware present.
I purchased a new RX 6700XT but didn’t have time to test it because I was on vacation. Before that, I didn’t experience stutters in my games while using the RX 6600, which suggests my CPU might be limiting my GPU performance. However, my CPU usage is significantly higher than what most people see with similar setups.
