I recently switched to a 1440p display and this phenomenon has begun. It first appeared after a roughly two-hour Fortnite session, then followed every game that was moderately intense. I’m not sure it’s related to my graphics card since I just upgraded to the 2080 Super about a month ago without any problems. However, I did see some odd (possibly artifacts) visuals when the system shut down and restarted. I’m really hoping it’s not my RAM failing or my PSU malfunctioning. But I’m not sure. Please check the video and share your thoughts. Also, the popping sounds seem to come from my Logitech speakers. IMG_4736.mp4 PC specs include: Processor - Intel Core i7 8700K, Motherboard - Gigabyte Gaming 5 z370, GPU - EVGA 2080 Super Xc, RAM - G.SKILL TridentZ RGB @ 3400MHz, 16GB SSD, Samsung 960 EVO 250GB NVMe SSD, PSU - 2TB P3 Plus NVMe, Cooler - Thermaltake 750W RGB fully modular, PSU - NZXT Kraken X52 AIO, plus two HDDs. Monitor is an LG Ultragear 27GP83B.

It's usually a thermal or power problem when something dies under load. Have you recently cleaned your GPU? Removed the PSU/PSU filter? Probably the increased demand to reach the required thresholds for OCT or Thermal cut-offs is causing issues. These artifacts are a clear warning sign in my opinion.

I've been watching the thermals closely, nothing unusual. The CPU is running around 60°C and I've cranked the GPU fans up to 80-90% to keep things cool, which kept the temperature near 70°C maxing out the card. I checked the PSU filter and found a bit of dust, but nothing too bad. I haven't replaced the card since I overclocked it on a 980Ti and ended up damaging it, so I left it as is and didn't want to risk anything. I still have some Noctua paste around. Are you thinking the PSU is causing the issue? I need to fix this quickly:/ Also, I have a litterbox in my room for the cats. I've cleaned the system regularly. Any idea how to test the components to spot what's failing? No code or searches needed...

Which one is better, Thermaltake Smart Pro RGB or the BX1? If you're seeing signs the PSU is failing, it might be time to replace it right away—this could be a major issue with your system.

This model has been available for years. It seems worth checking out at Best Buy for an upgraded 850. No specific brand suggestions, but Corsair is a reliable option to consider.

Best case scenario remains stable, but you can return it if needed. Corsair rm(x/e) 850? That should resolve the issue.

my local Best Buy only has the 750W in stock. Would you go with that model or should you consider the higher wattage option? Checking the newegg calculator suggests 600-699W, while you mentioned hoping for price matching on Amazon.

Best Buy had a Corsair rm850x available for roughly $133 with tax. I purchased it on the 26th and have been fine ever since. Thanks to everyone who replied! It seems my Thermaltake PSU was nearing its end of life.

It's a bit unusual, though your unit is generally good.
