System: MSI GF65 thin / i7-9750H / RTX 2060 mobile. Stop Overclocking tool: Intel XTU Stress test utility: Prime95 Voltage offset: -0.2V (Did not crash even after running the stress test for 2 hrs). How to recreate the problem: 1. Begin stressing your CPU > Add voltage offset after about 1 minute > Stop the stress test > CRASH! 2. Apply voltage offset without stressing your CPU Other note: When I lower the voltage, instead of lowering temperature, I notice a rise in clock speed while temperature stays near 91°C. (Unclear if this is ideal) Also, I managed to boost my GPU core clock by 160MHz (crashes at 175MHz) & memory clock by 600MHz (still testing). Question: 1. What should I do to fix the CPU undervolting? 2. Are these values typical for mobile CPUs and GPUs? Am I risking system stability?

If it fails during a stress test, it’s probable it will again after gaming. Reducing the under-voltage might help by lowering the CPU speed and preventing crashes. Or simply avoid under-volting altogether. Since it's a laptop, overheating is inevitable. You could use a cooling pad to manage temperatures instead.

It's interesting that the failure happens when the load is removed, not when it's applied. I'm curious about the root cause and whether there are any solutions to address this issue.

The issue stems from insufficient voltage, causing instability regardless of load conditions. It may not appear during startup or while operating but can occur even at idle. Transistors cease functioning if voltage drops too low. This explains the CPU performance drop in benchmark scores. In older AMD systems (and also Intel), the processor would freeze entirely, resulting in a complete screen freeze—a condition known as low-voltage hang. Overclockers often use this sign to decide when to increase voltage.

The cause-and-effect comparison is understandable, though it feels unusual since I share a comparable issue with the original poster. Whether I run a stress test for 10 minutes or 3 hours won’t cause a crash, but stopping the test abruptly does.
