System displays blue screen with error after updating cooler for Ryzen 9 5900X, issue unresolved. Otherwise normal.
I attempted to enable XMP and adjust the FCLK Frequency to 3000 Mhz, but the system wouldn't start. After using the CMOS button to reset to factory defaults, I'm unsure about the BIOS configuration. I'm planning to reach out to Best Buy to retrieve the settings they applied to my CPU. If their adjustments work, I'll apply those values. Anyone familiar with this issue on a 5900X and SteamVR should help. Thanks for your assistance.
I might have resolved the issue. The only action I've taken recently is reinstalling Windows 10 via USB and clearing my files. I'll revise this post if I encounter any problems by Monday afternoon. It required several hours, but it eventually caused a blue screen.
I'm not completely sure about the next steps or who to contact regarding this matter. I'm considering getting a replacement CPU from AMD, but I'm unsure because the problem only happens in VR—you'd expect it if it were a hardware issue. I think others might be going through the same thing, so I'll keep looking for solutions. As before, please share any advice you have below. Thanks!
I understand I’m mostly handling things on my own, but I hope this post can guide others facing similar challenges ahead. If any of these steps resolve my issues, I’ll mark it as the solution. Since then I’ve repositioned my CPU after the problems began—removing the Low-Noise Adapters from the Noctua cooler, cleaning the AM4 socket and CPU base with a soft brush and Isopropyl Alcohol, ensuring the mounting bars don’t touch nearby capacitors, and checking for proper seating. After extended use in Ark: Survival Evolved, I encountered a WHEA UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR while playing in VR. Now I’m considering AMD replacement if the fix doesn’t come through. Edit: It’s been 17 days without issues, suggesting the changes helped. If future problems arise, I’ll return the CPU for replacement. I don’t know if seating was off, if thermal paste caused trouble, or if the adapters were hindering cooling—but I’m confident cleaning, reseating, and removing the adapters resolved it. Thanks to everyone who supported me through this. I may adjust the post title to better reflect the situation since VR wasn’t the only factor.]
