Hey there, I’m running into trouble and can’t find a way around it. Games or systems often crash when I try to open or load them—whether it’s starting a new map, returning to a lobby, or launching a match. It doesn’t happen when I’m actively playing. For example: loading the game is fine, but in the lobby before starting a map everything works. Once I begin and load a map: it crashes. The Finals: opening the game 50/50 causes a crash. In the lobby there’s no problem. After a match, reconnecting to a map or lobby still results in a crash. Darktide: opening the game is smooth. In the lobby it’s fine. Connection issues after a match lead to crashes. All of this began about four days ago. I changed most of my setup six weeks ago; nothing worked with the old setup except the new one since then. My current configuration:

- CPU: ASUS PRIME Z790-P (V2)
- GPU: 4070
- RAM: 2x16 GB Vengeance DDR5-6000
- PSU: Corsair HX 1000
- Storage: 3x m.2 drives (Samsung: 1xEVO 960, 1x970 EVO, 980 Pro)
- OS: Windows 10 with BlueScreen error messages

I’ve tried several fixes: updated Windows, GPU drivers, MB drivers, ran stress tests (Furmark/Heaven), monitored temps during games and tests, checked SSDs—all tested without errors. All SSDs show good status. I moved RAM, tried single/dual channels, set both 5400 and 6000, underclocked/overclocked GPU, reinserted GPU, ran chkdsk, and used Windows Memory Diagnostic. The BlueScreen messages point to V-RAM or video issues, but with a 4070 it feels odd since I’m using it properly. Lowering graphics settings in games also causes the same problem.

I’m hoping someone can help identify what’s causing this. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Best,

Visit C:\Windows\Minidump to see if any minidump files exist. If present, return to the Windows directory and transfer the entire Minidump folder to the Downloads folder (use your desktop if needed). Compress the copied folder and include it in a post. Please adhere strictly to instructions since Windows doesn't allow file manipulation there.

Hi Bjoolz, thanks for your reply. I discovered a .dmp file in the minidump folder dated 07-12-23. It appears to correspond to the first occurrence. If it’s alright, you can share just the error text instead of the whole file. Error message: SYMBOL_NAME: nvlddmkm+9176a MODULE_NAME: nvlddmkm IMAGE_NAME: nvlddmkm.sys STACK_COMMAND: .cxr; .ecxr ; kb BUCKET_ID_FUNC_OFFSET: 9176a FAILURE_BUCKET_ID: AV_W_(null)_nvlddmkm!unknown_function OS_VERSION: 10.0.19041.1 BUILDLAB_STR: vb_release OSPLATFORM_TYPE: x64 OSNAME: Windows 10 FAILURE_ID_HASH: {838100fa-f28b-2ef7-d702-e31713cb338c} Followup: MachineOwner --------- 4: kd> lmvm nvlddmkm Browse full module list start end module name fffff801`3d390000 fffff801`40ca7000 nvlddmkm T (no symbols) Loaded symbol image file: nvlddmkm.sys Image path: \SystemRoot\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\nv_dispi.inf_amd64_8f4dab92e290c42d vlddmkm.sys Image name: nvlddmkm.sys Browse all global symbols functions data Timestamp: Thu Oct 19 19:28:59 2023 (6531675B) CheckSum: 03809ED7 ImageSize: 03917000 Translations: 0000.04b0 0000.04e4 0409.04b0 0409.04e4 Information from resource tables: So I’m guessing the ''nvlddmkm'' relates to Nvidia drivers? I installed the latest drivers yesterday evening with no crashes in Darktide afterward (though that might just be luck), but tried again today and the same happened as before; blue screen, but no minidump was saved by Windows. I’m still not sure what to do next.]

This crash notification suggests possible issues beyond just software updates. It might indicate malware activity. No unusual downloads were made, but a comprehensive scan could help identify the cause. Anyone with suggestions is welcome to share their thoughts!
