i was just testing injustice 2 and broadcasting at once with streamlabs obs. suddenly my computer stopped completely with no warning, leaving only a black screen on my monitor. the pc shut down entirely. when i restarted it, the event viewer showed what happened. here’s the link: https://postimg.cc/ns6vpWPX and https://postimg.cc/0MD7QCTc. i don’t understand what’s going on, what might have caused this? my monitor stayed on while the pc did not. my system is a gtx 980 reference edition with a ryzen 5600x, aorus elite b550m motherboard, 2x8 3200 ram, xpg cooler master hyper 212 black edition, cpu cooler evga 500w, and an 80 white plus 1tb hdd seagate 500gb ssd. crucial mx
Looks like a 5600x problem then, since I don’t have nzxt cam software, I’m using msi afterburner.
These issues stem from unexpected power cuts. The EVGA 500W White might be triggering protection mechanisms, leading to shutdowns. The 970 model could generate large voltage spikes and draw excessive current, possibly causing the same problem for the 980. I recommend replacing it with a reliable power supply unit. It's best suited only for office PCs.
I also restricted the GPU power, and it hasn't occurred again since I shared this.
