Hard system failures have occurred over the past three months on my three-year-old laptop. Initially, crashes appeared randomly during gameplay, but I can now identify them more precisely: they tend to happen shortly after completing GPU stress tests like FurMark or benchmarks such as 3DMark. For instance, running a stress test for an extended period usually doesn’t trigger a crash until I stop it. The 3DMark tests consistently fail the system during one of the pauses between runs. The only clues are kernel power errors 41 in the event viewer, which offer limited insight. I've tried several fixes—updating the EC firmware, reinstalling BIOS, updating chipset drivers, reinstalling GPU drivers after DDU, adjusting GPU settings with MSI Afterburner, cleaning fans, replacing thermal paste, verifying charger voltage, and checking hardware specs. My machine runs Windows 11 Home 64-bit with an Intel i5-9600K, NVIDIA RTX 2080 Mobile, and includes a Samsung SSD and Seagate drive.
