I reached out to see if anyone could help explain these PC issues I’ve been facing. The problems began after attempting an update to my Windows 10 version. The settings indicated I needed certain security patches, so I tried installing the update but it failed. An error appeared stating missing essential files; I resolved it using the sfc /scannow command, and the system reported success. After clearing my update cache and re-downloading, the installation still didn’t work. The same error returned, with identical problems.

I eventually gave up and took a week off. When I resumed, I tried fixing it again. I ran sfc once more, attempted the DSIM command, but it didn’t help since I didn’t have corrupted files. A notification suggested changing my update preferences, so I adjusted the auto-update window to 2 PM–6 PM. However, my PC restarted randomly—sometimes every minute, sometimes every few minutes, then irregular intervals. I thought this might be due to overheating, but after checking BIOS and adjusting CPU fan settings, the temperature stayed low.

I then considered wiping my PC to resolve the issue, but that didn’t work. The random restarts made it impossible to finish the Windows setup. I thought about logging into BIOS to diagnose, but it didn’t help. My dad had mentioned overheating as a possibility, but after inspecting BIOS settings, my CPU temperature was only 29°C—insufficient to cause trouble.

After some trial and error, I reinstalled the operating system. The process went smoothly, but once I logged in, my PC failed to recognize my Wi-Fi card and lost internet access. I’m hoping that fixing the restarting problem will allow me to recover my files and photos using data recovery tools. Thanks for your time—I’ll look into all the suggestions you shared. Bye.

The problem is fixed now. You can download the Wi-Fi drivers on another computer, move the file using a USB drive, and install it on your current device.

The PC keeps restarting every 2 to 3 minutes, but I appreciate the advice for my Wi-Fi card.
