System blocks BIOS setup and refuses to initialize.
My machine won’t boot into BIOS and I’m unsure why. My Gigabyte X99 5P usually shows the brand logo when starting up, but that’s disappeared now. If I don’t press anything during boot, everything works fine, but pressing delete or spamming to set timing causes fans and lights to spin, yet the screen stays blank until I power it again. I’ve restarted it regularly and still face this issue. The BIOS version is 5960x, which should be outdated (likely built in 2015), so aging might be the cause. It seems increasingly likely that upgrading the CPU won’t help. Thanks for any advice.
What's the method you're using to trigger the delete function? You need to keep pressing it, not just hold it.
I've tested every key combination and found no match for delete or it simply ignores the issue and restarts. For the keys that should function, I still see a black screen. It might just be waiting until an update is available. I don’t believe the BIOS is out of date and I’m not very sure about updating it yet. I’m still learning a lot and haven’t spent much time on this topic.
Typically, most boards include F12 as an choice for accessing the Boot Device menu... and there should also be an option to enter the BIOS... worth giving a shot!
I also tried this, but my system simply ignored it and restarted normally. It seems I’m giving up on BIOS and CPU tuning—I keep coming back to it a couple of weeks later, just in case. Being grateful I can still play games and overclock my GPU is nice. Maybe age plays a role or the motherboard doesn’t support it. Could there really be a reason it won’t show bios on my screen? Of course everything else works fine, but that’s a bit strange.
