Hey everyone, whenever I turn on my PC it usually follows this pattern: first it boots normally but then shows a black screen for a few seconds to tens of seconds; sometimes it lands smoothly on the desktop without issues, though it might briefly freeze for 10 to 20 seconds; occasionally parts of the startup take longer than others. After any of these moments, the system runs very slowly—either freezing for a short time or becoming unresponsive for a while before returning to normal. My friend thinks it could be due to too many startup programs or needing a defrag. My machine specs are an i5 3570, H61M motherboard, 8GB RAM, 1TB HDD, and a CX600M power supply.

Have you cleared the startup applications and run a disk cleanup? Your drive might be the issue, causing slow loading times for additional programs.

I've cleaned up and reduced the number of startup programs, which has improved things slightly. Right now I have 200 GB free on a 1 TB drive. Programs load quickly, but the first 1-2 minutes of boot are still sluggish.
