Hello everyone, here’s my setup summary: I’m using an Asrock B450m Pro4 with a Ryzen 2600 processor, 4GB of Patriot DDR4 3000MHz CL16 RAM, and a Cl16 configuration. My system runs at 4GHz with 2x4GB sticks. Recently, I bought Crucial Ballistix Elite 3000MHz CL15 RAM and installed it in slots A1 and B1. The Patriot sticks didn’t work well at higher speeds, so I switched to Crucial ones which performed better at 3200MHz CL15.
However, when I set my Patriot sticks to the 3000MHz CL16 XMP profile, the system crashes during Windows startup. According to Asrock’s info, I should be able to run four single-rank RAM modules at 2933MHz, but it fails after a few hours of use. I’ve tried swapping RAM sticks, changing slots, adjusting timings, and even lowering speeds down to 2800MHz, but stability remains an issue.
I’m looking for advice on how to get this configuration to run smoothly at the advertised 2933MHz speed. Thanks in advance!
It seems the various frequencies in the RAM are likely causing issues. This approach doesn't seem effective.
I've already tested it. It worked initially but then it kept resetting. I attempted to combine them like a1 pattern and a2 crucial, but it still returned to the same issue. I also tried various BIOS updates and saw that they affected stability at 2933, though none resolved my problem.
ram offers various timing options, which is why mixing different kits isn't advised—some users even face problems when purchasing identical sets. Running all four sticks smoothly might be possible by turning off XMP and using around 2400MHz, but on a Ryzen system performance will likely drop. You could also skip the CPU overclocking and check if replacing your RAM helps, though you might need to buy another set or return the new ones if they don't fit.
I successfully completed it now at 2933mhz. The issue was that my BIOS kept miscalculating the timings each time I activated the XMP profile. Instead of the expected 16-18-18-36, it always defaulted to 15-15-15-35 even though it should have adjusted for CL16. I resolved it by performing a CMOS reset and manually entering the correct settings.
