Check if the memory slots are working properly by booting up the PC and testing each stick. If issues persist, consider replacing the graphics card.

He already gave it a shot. Used one dimm and checked all the various slots. Then swapped in the other stick (I have two in my setup) and did the same tests. I think it's time for a new mobo, maybe now is the right moment.
