just remove all the heatsinks and take out the CMOS battery. short-close the CMOS for 1-2 minutes, then soak in a bucket of water for an hour or two. you can also use a dishwasher, but don’t add soap or detergent—let it dry naturally for a day or two. this deep clean should fix any problems caused by dirt getting inside. i’ve done this on over ten boards and it usually works.

Are you certain you want to proceed, or would it be better to cancel this action? You mentioned a superior board exists, but you're stuck pressing F8 to start up.

It's been decided to resume work, but nothing seems to be happening. It restarts, goes back to normal, and cold starts. The PC is functioning again. I can return it since the 60-day return policy applies. Unrelated news: my Matrox M9128 is non-functional now—it only displays artifacts during boot and doesn't show any windows.

where do you usually purchase it? Even here in Indo, where local shops stock plenty of used hardware that can be delivered straight to my place, I’m limited to returning it within two days after receipt. Still, I’ll return it because this board raises red flags with past issues. Unless it’s a top-tier model with over 230 bclk and no slow mode, I should send it back and try another one. Taking the chance on the Matrox card is risky—maybe use a heat gun to revive it properly and follow a reflow process for better results. Since newer Matrox cards are AMD-based, you might be able to source an AMD alternative if needed, especially if you need to replace the GPU or VRAM.

It's a 2004 Matrox card, the final model they produced with their own graphics chip. I replaced it with another unit and am sending back the faulty one. The artifacting process began after installing the driver—Windows wouldn't display properly initially, but it worked again once the driver was set. It appears the card was nearing the end of its life, and updating the driver unlocked its full potential, which ultimately caused failure. I purchased the motherboard on eBay from a Hong Kong seller offering 60-day returns (shipping costs covered by buyer). If the item arrived damaged, the seller would cover return shipping; otherwise, they reimburse you. Interestingly, after submitting my return, the seller approved it today—no need to send the board back. Since I received free shipping on the purchase (unusual for Canada), I got a full refund and kept the board. It seems the issue resolved itself; I increased the mounting pressure and adjusted the socket pin at certain angles, which improved contact.
