I upgraded my old setup with a C2D E6750 and Xeon E5440, opting for a quad-core processor. I found a decent deal on an Xeon E5440 and installed it. After the boot process, the system started but fans were loud. The screen displayed a blank or heavily rendered image, and the BIOS took several cycles to load even a single page. This issue appeared whether I ran without the graphics card or with a GeForce 8600GT. What might be causing this?

It works with the C2Q Q9550, which is quite similar. Some users have already managed to run a modified E5440 successfully, just like I did without my GTX 1050.
