Hello everyone, here are some details about my PC. I've been using it for a few years and want to extend its life before doing a full upgrade. It has a Gigabyte GAx58A UD5 board, Intel i7 950 GTX 770, 2GB RAM, 12GB Corsair 1333MHz DDR3, and a Noctua cooler that stores exact specs. Silverstone 750W Bronze powersupply is compatible with it. I'm considering an i7 980X as a possible upgrade, but my board suggests the 990X or 980X would be better. I'm also thinking about adding a GTX 1060 6GB GPU as an upgrade before the processor change. I need to confirm if the GTX 1060 works with this setup and what performance it would achieve with the i7 980X. Thanks!

The prices for 990X and 980X are comparable, with the potential to upgrade to a significantly more powerful CPU for around $200 in the USA.

I believed my motherboard restricted me to the LG1366 socket. I thought the i7 980x and 990x offered the strongest performance. Are there other options worth considering?

Considering an upgrade of Mobo+CPU+RAM, which might cost around $200 for a Ryzen 1600 "AF" model.
