Hey there! I'm really reaching out for some guidance. I'm relocating to a new place owned by my parents, which is off the grid but still has decent internet. I'm not sure what to do since it's not expected to be without connectivity. What options do I have? Should I try contacting a local ISP to see if they'd install a cable—looks like it's unlikely given all the nearby ones (see the black X in the picture). If they say no, could I possibly lay my own fiber line? The closest 50/10 cable is about 650 meters away, and my neighbor would probably be fine with me doing the installation. This sounds pretty basic, but I'm eager to get at least 50 Mbps down and 10 Mbps up for streaming, gaming, etc. It's a bit overwhelming, especially since I'm in BC, Canada. Thanks for any advice or thoughts—I really appreciate it!

Occasionally companies agree to install it, though you pay a significant amount upfront for setup. In the US, typical expenses fall between $5,000 and $10,000. Alternatives might include LTE service or services like Starlink.

Reach out to your cable company and request a site survey. They’ll assess the expenses involved in setting up your connection. You can expect them to charge for the service, which might range from a few thousand dollars up to over fifty thousand dollars USD based on online estimates. The actual cost can vary widely depending on the distance and network design. Consider exploring alternatives like a WISP or a reliable LTE provider if this seems too expensive.

Are there individuals nearby ready to purchase the service for you, with options like fiber, fiber optics, or a direct wireless connection?
