Considering a switch from your old CM600 to a modern setup near a Unifi network. The CM600 was built when speeds were limited to 200/10 Mbps in my area. Today’s plans start at 600/20, but I’m currently seeing around 209/11 with a high of 217/12 in the past month. I have a tech visit planned for Wednesday to dig deeper into this. I’m avoiding the Puma chipset for obvious reasons, yet I need enough knowledge to navigate networking challenges. Some options I’ve looked at: Netgear CM1100, Arris SB8200, Motorola MB8600. Thoughts or ideas? Any other suggestions welcome!

Gigabit Ethernet will top out at about 940 ish Mbps due to overhead. So if you ever want faster than that you need to look in to 2.5Gbps equipment. Other than that not much to say.

I'm using the Motorola MB8611 with 2.5 GB Ethernet. It doesn't have enough speed for optimal use, but it gives me a bit more flexibility for the future.
