Switching from Intel to AMD
Switching from Intel to AMD
Hey guys, I just recently bought and managed to get my hands on a 5600x and a mobo, and was wondering what the process would be like when upgrading from my current system (4690k)? The problem lies in my bootdrive, an SSD. I would like to keep all my files and programs, but unfortunately it seems like a reinstall of Windows is required when doing this sort of upgrade. I recently found out about a new type of reinstall in Windows though, one which doesn't delete programs. I'm a bit hesitant with this, as I haven't seen it used anywhere else. I've also seen people recommend sysprep, is this something I could do aswell? All this assuming of course I can actually boot the system after switching the CPU and mobo... Thanks in advance!
There is a method to restore Windows while preserving your personal data. It involves entering Recovery Mode and following these steps: 1. Press F11 during startup 2. Choose the reinstall option 3. Opt for "Keep personal files" 4. Hold patience 5. Rebuild programs
Understood, but I’d really prefer to retain my programs if it’s feasible.
