Switching from Intel CPU to AMD
Switching from Intel CPU to AMD
I understand you'd need to reset Windows for the existing PC, but backing up everything would ensure your apps transfer smoothly to the new installation. Reinstalling them might be necessary afterward.
This doesn’t make much sense. You claim to be doing a clean install, which usually means you’re replacing everything again.
Not always required, a fresh setup isn't mandatory when switching between Intel and AMD or vice versa—it's advised. My testing setup has run the same operating system for three years, handling multiple motherboards and CPUs from both sides without problems. Windows 10/11 does a decent job spotting hardware changes and adjusting accordingly without forcing a reinstall. However, if you start seeing odd behavior, a Windows reinstall would be my first course of action. Reinstalling Windows means losing all your installed programs, with no way to recover them.
You'd need to reinstall them since some files in the Windows folder would no longer be present.
