Your system might work with an i7-6700K, but compatibility depends on other components and your needs.

I don't believe the 37th generation has been released yet, K or non-K? Board? Cooler? How does it help with your computer? Any problems you're facing?

Are you referring to i7-3770? No, you can't swap it for i7-6700K since the socket types differ (LGA1155 vs LGA1151).

They're talking about a 3770k processor, not a 6700k. It's mentioned that this chip isn't compatible with the motherboard because it's the best CPU the socket supports. The gap in performance between the two models is only around 10%.

They understand those who noticed the mistake already informed me that upgrading my CPU requires a compatible socket.

With a k cpu you can attempt a 4.8ghz+ overclock, providing a solid performance improvement.

It wouldn't make sense to invest in a 6700k now. You'd still need a fresh motherboard. For upgrades, go for a real one—12600k or higher.
