Hi everyone. I was curious about switching to Linux after noticing how chaotic Windows 11 can be. At first, I planned to install a spare M.2 SSD on my PC for testing. But now I’m wondering if there’s a simpler way to set up booting between different operating systems. My ideal setup would default to Windows 10, and I’d be able to jump into Linux by pressing a key during startup, without having to change BIOS settings each time. I’d really appreciate any tips or suggestions on how to make this process easier.

Ensure your Linux bootloader can chain-load Windows' bootloader and set it as the default there. In the BIOS, select your Linux disk, then adjust the bootloader to appear only when a specific key is pressed, allowing you to choose your Linux distribution. Additionally, modify the Windows bootloader to include your Linux disk as an available boot option.

Your motherboard needs a dedicated key for opening the boot selection menu directly. I use that method. You usually set the default Windows drive, but then during boot you press the right key and choose Linux from the options. This helps you skip dealing with bootloaders.

This guide covers a lot of ground. The instructions inside the box are missing, and the book is only about 80 pages long. Thanks everyone—I’ll give it a shot tomorrow.
