I replaced my Ryzen 5 1600 with a 3700X from a friend who was also assisting. The CPU and DRAM debug lights activated but it didn’t boot. Swapping back fixed the issue. We verified on MSI’s site and updated the BIOS to the latest version, which all sources confirm should resolve it. I tried reseating the chip, booting with a single RAM stick, and using both sticks separately. I also reset the BIOS with JBAT1. It seems to have been a few days ago, so there might be more steps we missed. Any advice on possible causes or fixes?

Specs:
- OS: Windows 10 64-bit
- MSI B350 gaming pro MB
- RTX 2080
- PSU: Corsair CX550M 550W 80+ bronze
- RAM: Crucial Ballistix Sport Ltd 16GB (2x8) DDR4

According to MSI's information, the 3700X needs a particular BIOS version, not just the newest one. You might need to download and install a new BIOS for the 3700X to work properly with that motherboard. The file is called 7A39v2N.zip and can be found on MSI's site. Good luck!

It appears significantly different from the earlier version, and it clearly displays the new name.

We had observed this too, and although it isn<|pad|>, I think they wouldn't eliminate CPU compatibility with a newer BIOS release. We also attempted to flash to that BIOS version, but it prevents reverting to an older version.

They didn’t delete support for a widely used CPU like the 3700X. Have you attempted to start with the least hardware? Just the CPU, RAM, motherboard, graphics card, power supply—no SSDs, no extra devices, just checking if you can reach the BIOS.
