Switch your SSD from MBR to GPT while keeping the operating system installed.
I own a Kingston kc600 1tb SSD with my operating system installed, and I need secure boot activated for Windows 11 installation. It seems GPT SSD works best for that, but my drive is MBR-based. I’m comfortable changing it to GPT, though. If I back up the drive, what happens if I delete the volume afterward?
You require this because Windows 10 still offers several years of updates remaining. Microsoft provides a method to transform an MBR drive into a GPT format without needing to reformat it. Be sure to read thoroughly, grasp the instructions, and adhere strictly to their guidance. Always have a backup of important data before proceeding. Ideally, use an external drive you can safely disconnect. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/window...mbr-to-gpt If you create a disk image, you’ll be able to recover the partition onto the newly-GPT drive.
Disk image won't start GPT boot. Macrium and MBR restored on GPT didn't work, but secured boot functions without GPT. UEFI requires a bootable GPT image.
