Windows is merely an operating system. It doesn’t directly connect to hardware modifications unless you’re talking about driver updates, etc. It will identify the hardware changes and handle them accordingly. Especially with Windows 10, make sure you’re using it. Success is within reach.

Even XP tries to find drivers when hardware changes (if it boots successfully), and newer versions perform better with additional built-in drivers. Win8.1 should work, though the licensing issue remains unclear—upgrade your hardware first and good luck!
