I own an Acer VN7-592G-7303 notebook equipped with a Qualcomm Atheros QCA61x4A wireless adapter. I’m experiencing ongoing issues and would like to swap it for an Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 8265 or another Intel card. Is this replacement suitable? Could there be compatibility concerns? I’m having trouble finding details about the Qualcomm chip, so any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

It should function, though there are no assurances. I attempted this on my older laptop, but it didn’t work out. Probably because I aimed to upgrade from a basic 2.4GHz model to dual-band with Bluetooth... Make sure the new part matches the original in dimensions and antenna count. The Intel chip seems larger, maybe your Atheros module is smaller?

From this guide it appears the cards are similar in value, yet searching online shows the Qualcomm card is smaller. The best option seems to be opening the laptop, but the main issue is that no details about the card are available and the Acer site doesn’t list the laptop.

Laptop brands sometimes include certain cards in their BIOS, only those on the White List will function properly. Using an unauthorized card might prevent the system from booting. I’m aware Lenovo does this, but I’m not sure about Acer. It’s best to verify with them before moving forward. You may also want to look for a supported card list. HP had one for my sister’s machine.

It appears Acer hasn't introduced a Wi-Fi whitelist feature, though no trustworthy sources confirm this. When you checked the laptop, the card measured 2.5 to 3 cm in length, which doesn't match the typical size for such devices.

The latest card was delivered today and appears to function properly. I verify that Acer hasn't added a WiFi whitelist, and if any issues arise soon, I'll revise this post. For now, thank you everyone.

Do you experience any compatibility problems after replacing the equipment?

Your response is appreciated. It appears the issue may be linked to Windows 10 1903, which has now been resolved. The inbuilt Wi-Fi card is functioning properly again. See the article for more details: https://mspoweruser.com/microsoft-stops-...-fi-driver
