Sure, it’s a common idea. You can organize your files by creating new folders in the main HDD directory and moving your games and apps there. Clearing out old directories and removing the old MBR is another way to free up space without a full reformat. Both methods help keep things tidy while preserving your important data.
I've begun copying games over and everything seems to work so far. I plan to continue and eventually remove the Windows and Programs folders. If needed, I can open msconfig and delete the Windows drive. I'd prefer this method just to confirm whether it's already been done before, though I'm not sure.
Hey there! Just a quick note—apparently there was a mix-up. Let me know if you need anything else. I hope you get some rest. 😊
Samsung offers its own data migration tools. It also allows you to keep your media and games on your HDD while transferring the operating system to an SSD. Unfortunately, this functionality is exclusive to Samsung SSDs. Acronis might have similar options as well.
You can unlock it. It allows moving, copying, or deleting anything, but it takes a very long time. Also, I just completed installing my HDD. All the OS files disappeared, yet my games remained intact. It was a bit slow.
You’ve already updated Windows on your new SSD, so you need to reset the old disk. Formatting it prevents Windows from creating partitions or writing a bootloader there. Additionally, the access rights will become confusing.
