I aimed to purchase physical switch game cartridges to play with yuzu. Can these cartridges run on a computer using an adapter? Also, is it possible to clone them onto an SD card with a Linux system in a small way? I don’t have a switch and won’t need one since I already own computers and graphics cards.

Unfortunately, there’s nothing available to achieve what you’re aiming for. To make an emulator function, you need to transfer system files from your own Switch device. While you might be able to get them elsewhere, that would involve piracy, which seems unlikely in this context. You can’t extract game files directly from a cartridge without the Switch itself either. If someone else has a Switch, you could use it to rip games you already own, but you’d still need your own system files for the emulator to operate.

It would likely be tough to convince someone to lend me theirs for that project, especially with the risk of damaging it or getting in trouble with Nintendo. I’m not interested in piracy—I just want to play legitimate games on a computer using an emulator and create copies of legal versions for myself.

Yeah, I totally get that. I've looked into ripping system files and games from my family's switch myself. But it's a newer model so there's no way to mod it to allow that yet. As unfortunate as it is, the only legal way to do what you're wanting would be to look for an older model Switch selling used on Ebay or some other site. The newer versions have a security patch that prevents you from ripping system files or games as of right now.

I really dislike closed systems—it's not just about the cost. These exclusive titles bother me because I already have everything I need for them. Also, many games have frame rate problems, and I prefer using a keyboard and mouse.

It seems like you're considering skipping Zelda entirely. You'd rather invest in hardware upgrades instead of supporting this closed platform.

Absolutely, it would be great if Nintendo made some of their titles available on Steam. Having PC versions of Mario Kart 8 and Smash Ultimate would boost sales and attract more players. While exclusives can motivate purchases, making every game exclusive to one platform can feel frustrating, especially when the console doesn’t match the performance of other options.

It would be interesting if Nintendo faced financial trouble and had to move all its content to PC to generate enough revenue to recover from its struggles.

Yeah. Unfortunately there's a certain once-rival company I'm much more fond of who's getting much closer to that type of situation right now...

sonys progress is noticeable, perhaps they don’t face financial issues and simply notice a large dollar sign and can’t resist. I wouldn’t have played Horizon Zero Dawn without the port, and I really enjoyed it. Windows sometimes bothers me, but I manage it. I hope someone develops a program that can perfectly mimic any Windows app on Linux, so I could switch easily. Even with some extra overhead, better hardware could help compensate.
