Swiftech h240 x2 paired with a GPU waterblock.
I'm preparing to upgrade my system with a Xeon X5670 and a GTX 980 Ti. I'm planning to overclock it and chose the Swiftech H240 X2 (which is actually a 280mm radius) along with a GPU waterblock. I have a few questions:
- Which GPU block would you suggest? I’m leaning toward an Alphacool because it includes a backplate for free and is more affordable, but I’m not certain about its performance. I looked at Swiftech and the EC series, the latter seems like a decent option, but I’m not sure.
- Is the H240 X2 compatible with LGA 1366? I noticed the original H240 X was compatible with an extra backplate, but I can’t find any info about the X2 version.
- What additional fittings and tubing should I use? According to Swiftech’s website, these come with the H240 X2. The waterblock fittings include swivel elbows with a 3/8" (10mm) OD and radiator fittings have integrated swivel 90° elbows with the same OD. But why is the outer diameter of the tubing important for the fittings? I think it might be a mistake, but it appears twice. Their specs say 5/8" x 3/8" (16/10mm), so I assume the inner diameter is 3/8". I’m unsure if all parts match exactly, and I might need something else to secure the tube into the fitting since the barb seems unreliable. I haven’t used fittings before.
Thanks in advance
