Swap the CPU or Motherboard?
Here’s a revised version of your text:
At first, I had the following PC parts: an R5 2600X from Asus Strix B450-F Gaming, 2x8GB GSKill 3200 CL16 GTX, a GTX 1080 970 Evo, a 2TB HDD, and a bootable Windows 10 installation. For roughly a year, the RAM ran at 3200MHz using an XMP profile and everything stayed stable. Around a month ago, I added another 16GB of memory, but lowered its speed to 2933 because Ryzen struggled with higher speeds. The upgrade didn’t succeed, and I experienced frequent memory-related crashes and BSODs in Windows. Eventually, the system got corrupted, forcing a complete reinstall. Even after dropping it back to 2133MHz, occasional problems persisted. After removing the extra RAM, I still faced issues running above 2400MHz, with BSODs occurring every few days.
It’s worth mentioning that this exact configuration isn’t listed on the QVL for my motherboard, which is already a disadvantage. However, the RAM performed well before the upgrade attempt. Something must have failed, and I’m looking for advice on what to replace. I’m open to switching to a 3600/3700X or an x470 board—preferably not both. Do anyone have any suggestions or insights?
Adjust the configuration to a higher setting and resolved my previous 4DIMM RAM problems on the X570.
I believe the configuration on B450 aligns with expectations. A power cap on DRAM likely explains the 4 DIMM issue.
