Sure! You can definitely insert the hard drive into the computer. Once it boots, you should be able to install the operating system there. Just follow the installation steps as needed.

It should function properly. I've experienced problems with blue screens when using specific drives on older systems. You might want to give it a try since the only downside is the brief connection time.

I’ve completed it, but Windows now sees it as an invalid copy. It triggers numerous alerts, yet it still functions.

Windows isn't comfortable being detached from its original motherboard, so it will still function—but you'll have to re-enter the product key.
