I've experienced stuttering issues in my setup. Here are the details: CPU - Ryzen 7 3700X, Motherboard - Asus Tuf Gaming plus Wi-Fi, RAM - Two 8GB Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro (16GB), GPU - RTX 3080 FE, Storage - 500GB Samsung 970 EVO Plus and 1TB Samsung 980 Pro NVMe M.2, Power Supply - RM1000X. The performance data in Doom Eternal displays a red line during response times. Would you consider switching to an Intel processor? If yes, what model and ATX board would fit your current configuration within an 800 USD budget? I've been working on this problem for at least two months without success. Note: I've replaced the GPU with a stable 1080 and swapped RAM modules correctly, but nothing has improved. The RTX 3080 worked fine on Linux with proper drivers, and all system drivers are up to date.

Check if PBO and AutoOC can boost the 3700X’s performance. Also, test higher resolutions and game settings to confirm the issue persists under full GPU load.

After checking the required actions to confirm a CPU bottleneck, I’d simply refresh the BIOS and opt for a Ryzen 5000 series chip. It’s much more affordable and simpler than replacing the motherboard and CPU, and it should boost single-core performance by 10-15%.

Thank you for the feedback. Allowing PBO and AutoOC appears to hurt performance, possibly indicating an issue with the CPU. Core clocks changed during stutters, which is concerning. I wonder if a 5000 series would behave similarly, meaning I might have been unlucky. The BIOS seems current as well.

Previously, XMP wasn't activated. Have you turned it back on for your RAM?

The default settings are already in place, and they may not perfectly match your CPU performance. The 3200MHz clock speed is standard, but the default configuration might not be ideal for your specific hardware.

Adjusting PBO settings often requires some fine-tuning, since unlocking full performance can cause thermal throttling because of Precision Boost mechanics (distinct from PBO). Have you tried playing at a higher resolution and turning on maximum graphics settings to reduce CPU strain? In the Nvidia control panel, you can activate a super sampling mode that lets your GPU render at a higher resolution than native. If this resolves the issue, the problem may lie with the CPU; however, if it persists, replacing the CPU is unlikely to help.

The high sampling rate is linked to DSR, not the Nvidia control panel. Yes, I’ve boosted all settings to get the best performance. Regarding CPU swapping, it’s about compatibility with another AMD system rather than just a single card.

DSR applies, and a GPU bottleneck means no CPU from any manufacturer will resolve the problem. The issue persists even with a GPU limit.

I turned on DSR and the GPU still gets stuck. The stuttering seems linked to a setting in the motherboard BIOS. I’m not sure how to restrict the GPU. Here’s the info about my motherboard: https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards-Com..._Download/. I installed Audio, Bluetooth, LAN, Wi-Fi and BIOS version 4022. Not getting the VGA option? It’s odd since Chrome stutters only when images load but works smoothly afterward. I have hardware acceleration enabled for YouTube because it runs smoothly there; otherwise it feels unstable.
