That system has been around since the early 2000s. I haven't encountered any problems during those upgrades.

Seems like the problem was limited to older versions. I'm finally upgrading my setup this summer.

Windows probably needs reactivation, meaning contacting Microsoft. Use the automated line and when asked about installed PCs, respond with "1". Their Windows activation info comes from a hardware checksum, so they might send a rep. Just mention you changed your motherboard and CPU.

First, don't remove anything just uninstall the drivers from the device manager and any motherboard software such as AI Suite from the uninstall programs list. After installing the new motherboard, wait briefly before restarting and then check the device manager for any yellow triangles—those indicate a driver issue or hardware/software problem. Once there are no yellow triangles, everything should be functioning properly and display the expected results after installing the correct drivers.
