A friend is interested in exploring Kotor because I really enjoy the first two games. It’s hard to decide which one to start with, but I’d suggest beginning with the first. If he doesn’t enjoy that, we can move on to the second, which offers a darker experience he might prefer. Updated August 25, 2015 by Vozella

You mean Kotor mate. I'd stick to playing them in order tbh. Kotor 2 actually got a patch not long ago which enables steam workshop support, and the restored content mod is on there.

You definitely need to play them in sequence. The KOTOR 2 narrative relies heavily on the events following the initial game, and Revan's decisions play a key role. For KOTOR 2, install the Sith Lords Content Restoration Mod (version 1.8.4 is current). Additionally, it's recommended to frequently save and create multiple saves, as the game tends to have some bugs.

Initially, everything works as expected; otherwise, you'd struggle with some characters in the second part and wouldn't be able to save progress for the backstory.

Besides their comments, this game remains excellent and has maintained its quality over time.

It seems KOTOR 2 lacks save game import capabilities similar to Mass Effect. Players need to fill in the backstory through character conversations, where NPCs ask about events from the first game and you decide what happened. Or they'll give a fact, and you'll need to fix it.

Last week's update? That patch has been available on Steam for about a month. I've already replayed the whole game using the Mod through Steam Workshop, but it's still full of bugs. My save file crashed roughly three times while playing Nar Shadda—thankfully the Save Game Editor helped me keep going. I managed to bypass the problematic scripted event and two quests.

It seems you're trying to remember a date but can't recall it. You mentioned you were almost there, so maybe it was just a quick thought!
