Pop OS employs full-disk encryption. When you unlock the boot loader, you must also unlock the filesystem, which often requires entering the same password again. This is handled by instructing cryptswap to forward your typed password to systemd-boot for the encrypted filesystem at https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Dm-...ire_system
