You're asking about adding tags to a PNG file in File Explorer, but you're having trouble finding the right option. The instructions mention a "Tags line" on the Details tab, but your screen doesn't show that field. You might need to check the exact location of the tag feature or look for alternative ways to label your files during upload. It's also worth noting that the transition from Finder to File Explorer can be confusing, especially with the differences in how they handle file management. Keep trying different methods until you find what works best for you.

The tags rely on the file format they’re associated with. I believe PNG files aren’t compatible with this system. PNG metadata is minimal and not widely consistent. It’s likely any tagging tool you locate will only recognize its own functionality.

They are saved in the EXIF data, but PNG format doesn’t allow this. It works with JPG instead. You won’t need to adjust properties—just use the Details panel if it’s active.

I think I’ll look for a Tag Manager solution. Color coding the PNG files should suffice. If an app is needed, I’ll check what’s available and see if extra features are useful. Anyone know of 'Stagsi'?

The Finder’s native file labeling isn’t available in Explorer, yet clearly developers have created solutions for this. The link you shared looks promising: https://tagging.connectpaste.com/

Up until now, the tagging tools I discovered don’t integrate with File Explorer, yet they function as a separate alternative to it. -- That wasn’t the goal I had. I’m not interested in being like those people, but I need a solution that performs similarly to what’s available on MacOS. Got any suggestions?

The screenshots from that app don’t resemble my Windows Explorer experience. >> My familiarity with Windows is limited—I’ve been using a Mac for over three decades without ever touching a PC, so I could easily feel overwhelmed again. On Windows 10, figuring out Explorer and locating files remains the most confusing part. It seems the app introduces yet another layered file view (with tags), rather than simply adding tag information to an existing grid. (I favor the 'Detail' option over others.) Someone mentioned there might be a way for PNG files to support tags like JPEGs, but I’m cautious about trying that version. I’ll search for better alternatives, though I wasn’t really expecting this solution.

It is explorer, it adds a bottom pane to show a file's tags, you tag by right-clicking as usual, and there's a special "folder" that holds the tag hierarchy where you can list all files with a tag. Try it... I doubt that exists.

I attempted it, but it doesn’t seem to work for me. The file metadata manager is available at the provided link, yet I’m unable to proceed with installation. It’s discouraging when the initial steps fail. The software is hosted on GitHub, which makes things confusing. I’ve downloaded the archive and extracted it, but there’s no executable or clear instructions—just a generic prompt to install. I’m unsure what’s required since the process feels unclear. This situation is frustrating; I really need detailed, step-by-step guidance right now.
